What's the general thinking about finance consulting? Doesn't seem to be offered by the MBBs, LEK, ATK, etc. but the EY/Deloitte/KPMG/PWC, Capgemini, PA all seems to cover it.Has anybody on here had experience in this field? If so, how was it in terms of being stimulating/interesting and what are the exit options?

I enjoy it and, if you're a qualified accountant, it's a great way to switch back and forth between consulting and industry. The principles and core approach are in common with other types of management consulting. The advantage/attraction is that as long as you understand the finance function well, you get the full variety of work from strategy to implementation. You may need to specialise within that range as you become more senior or if you join a bigger firm with formal sub-teams.

for any of you in the know - what is the main difference between the capabilities of the big consulting firms in terms of Finance Function Consulting / general Finance & Performance Management? In particular, do you know if any of them have any capability in Strategic Sourcing for Finance / BPO?

Most of the non-Big 4 accounting firms are struggling in this space, other than IBM and Accenture. Of the companies you have listed, PA Consulting closed their Finance Transformation team about 2 years ago and Cap's FT team has also had huge attrition in the past year. Logica and EDS are no better. The BPO companies lack the credibility to offer independent advice. The strategy houses tried to come into this space about 5 years ago, and withdrew quickly

Hi there Here are some guide lines for the banking and finance consulting.Total assets of global banking industry is about hundred trillion in US $. Banking and Insurance industry was affected by financial crisis of 2008. The crisis began with the collapse of Lehman Brothers in the US, that rapidly spread all over the world resulting to great economic recession after post war era. The credit crunch and liquidity situation further worsen the market resulting to volatile market condition. Government and central banks all over the world took necessary steps to save global economy and market condition.for more details you can visit us to: http://www.lucintel.com/is_banking_insurance.asp

Thanks Lucintel. Here are some guidelines on time, and wasting that of others by passing what we all know off as insight:Time is divided into exactly equal divisions and subdivisions. A higher number indicates a point in the continuum of these divisions which is later than a previous point, so 11 O'Clock is earlier that say 12 O'Clock. For more details on what you already know visit us to:stoppassingoffwhatyou'vereadinthenewspapersasbeinginsightweshouldthankyoufor.com.on
