Hi all,I am interested to know what professional qualifications are useful before applying for an MBA. i.e. PMP, Prince 2....

The main qualification you need is a Higher National Diploma in "The Art of Spending Huge Sums of Money for Little or No Subsequent Financial Gain or Career Progression". Either that or an NVQ in "Obtaining a Negative ROI from Investment in Further Studies".

I don't think many, if any, of those types of qualifications will help.Admission to top schools is based on1) Academic achievement2) Work experience and career progression3) Extracurricular activities4) Not getting weeded out with a low GMAT5) Interviewing wellIf you happen to pick up some extra qualifications along the way, then fine, but they won't particularly add much if you have all of the above points, and not having them won't detract if the above points are in your favourConcentrate on the activities that will genuinely enhance your application, not the fluff around the sides

And the sad part is that the extra item doesn't even add anything. You have only a 30min to 1 hour interview to demonstrate your "excellent communication skills", so his/her point 6 is already captured in my point 5.D

Thanks for the responses.having achieved a 2.2 from Notts Uni, working for large telecoms in tech role, I am trying to find ways of getting into a good school. Obviously a good GMAT would be good.Any suggestions? Thinking of Project Management (Prince2)/Business Analysis (ISEB).

I doubt a "good" school would particularly care about PMI/Prince2/ISEB etc. Great GMAT, essays and references are more likely to help.

Yes, totally agree that the top schools probably couldn't care less about qualifications like Prince2, ISEB, ...Focus on getting a really good score in the GMAT, i.e. 700 or above, then craft a good application and do well in the interviews.Maybe, the only qualification that might help in getting into top schools could be the CFA, but it takes a long time to do (3 yrs) and is very tough, from what i hear
