#0 Question for MBA grads

Hi,Took my GMAT last week & scored 700 (Quant: 74th percentile, Verbal: 89th percentile) - and am looking to apply in Round 1 to schools such as LBS and INSEAD.I was wondering whether consulting firms request candidates to submit their GMAT scores during the "MBA Milkround" - and if so, whether my Quant score would be sufficient for them.thanks,James

Didn't apply for the milkround but tbh GMAT seems only really to be relevant for Business Schools. I think a low-ish (given competition) quant score is unlikely to kill the application so long as you have good experience and interesting things to talk about.

From recollection I think that a few places asked for it, but can't remember who.700 shouldn't kill your application, but equally won't impress them so it will depend on your CV and cover letter. If the question you are actually asking is 'Should I re-take it?', then my answer would be 'no'

I got a role with a very respected consulting firm post-MBA (not MBB, think top of the next tier) as well as a number of other firms and wasn't asked for my GMAT at any point; although I did list it on my CV as it was reasonably good, although not stellar. If you're only worried about GMAT from the perspective of consulting applications I wouldn't (as P says) retake it because the consulting firms don't really care that much, unless it's truly abysmal or 800. OTOH if you're worried that the other areas of your business school applications may need a little bolstering then I would definitely retake it, as most of the schools are fine with people having a couple of cracks at it and it's not that expensive.Best of luck.EC
