Hi, I am just launching independently after 5 yrs with Logica followed by 6 as internal consultant within financial serices (retail & commercial banking). Having spent a little time searching for reputable professional groups to be affiliated with, the Institute of Business Consulting is one I've come across that - on the surface looks pretty well set up - however quite a lot of the material is a little out of date and I wondered if they are still operating??I sent emails and phoned the other day but noone responded - hence this query.Anyone know if IBC is still operating and if so, would this be a good group to join??Many thanksStuart

IBC is well worth joining, particularly if you're looking to broaden your horizons beyond an internal-only focus.

Looks like a great way to spend £250 and get a framed certificate in return. If you aim to earn your fees from blue chip clients - don't bother - they will attach no weight to membership, nor to lack of it.If you aim to earn you living from smaller, engagements with non-blue chip clients, then this is the sort of meaningless qualification that might just hoodwink some of the more gullible ones. You would be better spending the 250 quid on stamps and sending a "I've gone independent" mailshot to all your previous clients and network.
