Hi all. My first post. Looking for some advice on whether to re-negotiate a rate I agreed with a perspective client on the phone. I'm an ex Accenture Senior Manager. Quit last year after getting turned down for VR owing to strong performance. I left at ~£120k, including all add-ons. I managed to secure a contract through a contact at a small consultancy for £750/day, good money and an increase on where I was at Accenture. They are known for paying high rates to their 'Associates' to get quality folks who like in my case are often referrals/ex colleagues at Big 4 firms. In any case, that contract is now finished and I've been working to secure my next one for about 4 weeks. Earlier this week, I got in touch with an old colleague of mine from Acn who said he had the need for some help and was keen to get me onboard. When negotiating rates, he asked me when I was asking for and I told him my rate from my previous engagement. He said he wouldn't be able to afford that and that anything over £500 would require ok from his leadership team. I didn't hold my ground, felt a bit uncomfortable as he was an ex colleague and countered with £650 which he ultimately accepted. Now I think I low balled myself and am thinking about re-negging. Is it too late? Am I being greedy?
