Well first of all I must say that this is a wonderful forum and I have found some very helpful threads here...I hope to get some useful advise for EY 2nd round interview. I recently applied to IT Advisory Experienced at EY and have been invited for 2nd round...However they state that the 2nd round is an assessment day and will also hv group exrcise as well. I have not heard of this for experienced recruitment in other firms...Is this common at EY? This is for ITA in London for Executive rank...dont know where that fits in their hierarchy ?Also, can someone provide me advise on what to expect during the interview and if anyone has been through the process recently, can you provide your experience of the day. Please honest opinions and no E&Y posts.

Executive is the Consultant/Senior Consultant band within EY. It would not really count as experienced hire though. You need to present yourself as a more senior proposition than you currently are to succeed with EY - so if you are at Exec grade, pitch yourself as a senior end Exec, junior end of Manager grade etc.

I work for EY ITA. Its totally fine to ring the EY recruitment contact up and ask for me detail on what is expected. I personally only take 15mins on the case study and focus on the individual. As we are recruiting in large numbers there is some group stuff as well to see how people perform in that context. My advice is to get clarity and ask lots of questions beforehand - its absolutely fine to do so. Exec rank is an audit term - get the recruiter to ask what the relevant grade is in Advisory. e.g. Consultant/Senior Consultant/Manager/SM

EY are now doing the same thing they did 5 years ago – just hiring anyone who can more of less spell their own name. Do let us know how you enjoy working in the public sector, and enjoy the bloodbath in 2 years time when the redundancies come

The roles are real. Lots of them. Our challenge is finding the right people to fill them. Don't believe the stuff on this forum about 'database building' simply not true...who has time for that? The roles are 50/50 private/public and none FS. FS is run as a separate standalone BU so not included in this.

Pay for the Exec grade will come wash up somewhere between 40 - 62 depending on practice as some of them will push this down and by mid 50s you could be looking at a Manager grade in some areas. This applies to FS, not quite sure outside FS though. EY and PwC seem to be doing well from people jumping ship from Deloitte - the marked difference in how P&L is carved up makes this very worthwhile once you start to get a line of sight on it, so expect a continued - albeit sporadic brain drain from green dot. Which will do alot for EY and PwC picking up business from Deloitte. And Mr Cool - my hands are as clean as the day I was born!

Recently been through 2nd round with E&Y as an ITA experienced hire. 2nd round assessment day consisted of: 1) Group exercise - working with other candidates to analyse, formulate and present a group response to a business question posed by a panel of E&Y senior grades, who assess & quiz you on the response.2) Technical/skill-specific ITA interview. 3) Competency interview (general business acumen, consulting skills, handling conflict, influencing, leading etc.) 4) Partner/Senior Partner interview (why E&Y, personal career objectives/goals etc).
