Hello all,I work within the strategy practice of a large consulting firm and am considering my options, potentially with a view to a move to a smaller or niche strategy firm. My experience is quite broad in terms of industry (FS, TMT, FMCG) and capability (some M&A, Operational, Marketing/Branding, sourcing/procurement, TOM's and corporate growth). Can anyone provide any names of firms and suggestions - I'm obviously doing my own research, but any added assistance would be greatly appreciated.Many thanks.

As a rule of thumb, if you're not at the career stage where you understand who your competitors are, you probably aren't sufficiently experienced to find a new job as an experienced consulting hire.Similarly, generalist strategy analysts are ten-a-penny; recruiters are only interested in those who have stuck it out long enough to develop a specialism and expertise. Not to put a downer on your plans, but you need to be realistic.

My apologies, I didn't want this thread to drop down to the levels of others where criticism is the focus. However, I do understand who the MAIN competitors are to my current employer and am aware of various other strategy firms. But the chances are that I don't know of some - hence the reason for my post.Pray tell oh wise one, do you know every single competitor of yours? I presume from your post that you're an all knowing, all seeing recruiter (if not, apologies for my mistake), so do you know of every agency that works within your field?

Strat,Am surprised that you have actually worked at a consulting firm before - as you know, asking the right questions is a critical path of the role.You'd get more useful advice from this forum if you made it clear exactly what charactertistics you were looking for in your next role/firm. Instead you've just given us a laundry list of what you've worked on in the past - leaving us to second guess what you're looking for in the future.

Strat - are you looking for consulting firms or recruitment agencies? There's a difference.
