HelloI am currently a management consultant at a mid-size firm and have an offer to join the transaction services (operational due diligence) team within a corporate finance big 4 practice. I would be very interested to hear if others have made the move and how they have found it? Also, I would be interested to hear what the exit opportunities working in corporate finance are like? Do PE firms recruit from transactions services / due diligence teams? All insights very welcome and appreciated.

Yes they do. However PE has lost some of its lustre recently - they simply cannot - or won't - compete with banks on salaries, carry is lower than ever, and they are bracing themselves for a wall of regulation which will look something like a landslide. What is likely to continue attracting people to PE now is the stimulus of the work - which tends to be more varied and involved that the very prescribed work in IB but probably no more interesting and varied that a good consulting firm. Focusing nearer to home, the move up to Big 4 will open a lot of doors, not just PE, and some as interesting (if not potentially more so).

Any more insight as to the pros and cons on this move into transaction services (ODD) in big 4..I am considering the same move from a man consulting background. Thanks

as far as I know, when you refer to Transaction Services (TS), it is rather Financial DD than ODD, i.e. focusing on historic financials of targets. Are you sure you would be doing ODD? The traditional TS practises are not very interesting if you ask me - Big 4 have always done it, as it is an auditing type of discipline, where you count the beans of the companies being investigated.
