I would agree with the posts on this. Coming out of consulting and going into industry, the prospective employer is bound to ask themselves what value does this person bring to my company/team/department given the wage they are asking.You see (and I know the majority of people on this forum conveniently ignore this) doing consulting for about 5-7 years of say process mapping, PMO, for say Birmingham County Council and then gathering business requirements for a system for say Morgan Stanley is hardly career enhancing stuff: there's no content there. And given your salary wants, you need to have a bit more in your armour. Believe me, the biggest challenge in consulting is not winning or doing the work, its actually managing your career so that you get the right skills and exposure so that you have options for your next career move.
