Hello all, I was hoping for a bit of advice for getting out of consulting. I've been in the game five years now, two at a Big 4 consultancy working in general strat/transformation/change and more recently three years as a consultant in corporate finance (post deal advisory/operations excellence). In summary, my social life is non-existant, I have been working flat out for two years now and I need to get away from the hours consultancy and transaction-related work brings. I was thinking about a move to industry and wanted some advice as to how to get there in the decision-making process. I don't have a sector alignment per se on my cv and don't really know what roles in industry I could reasonably look at with my experience. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, CC

Quite competitive at the moment looking for jobs. The number of applicants gets filtered by directly relevant experience. If you are relying on your intelligence, flexibility and performance track record then you may get rejected before you even get to interview stage. My advice would be to focus on your clients. Identify specifically what jobs you could do for them permanently; and what salaries those jobs might pay - which may be less than you are on. Then discuss informally to see if there might be openings.
