I'm about to graduate from Aston Business School with a 2:1 in International Business & Economics and achieved AABc in my A-Levels. I'm considering applying for a MSc at Warwick Business School and I'm partiucarly interested in the following two courses:MSc in Management Science & Operational ResearchMSc Business Analytics & Consulting This will be my first graduate role, should I bother applying for roles straight away or take on a MSc to boost prospects? How much of a difference would it make? Thanks,Grad

Should of mentioned earlier; both courses will set me back £8,800.

You will get more value out of the masters degree if you have worked for a few years for several reasons:1) You will understand it better2) You may find you need a break after a few years working......perhaps need to change direction and a Masters can help with this - but not if you already have one!3) An MBA or equivalent can take you up a grade in consulting if taken post-experience.If you do it now it will add little value. You will still be entry level for most consultancies without the experience.

Agree with previous poster 100%. I did an undergraduate degree, worked for a number of years in various junior/middle/senior operational management roles and then did an MSC before moving into consulting. I've also worked with a number of graduate/post-graduate level entry staff and I can tell you, it's the experience and academic background combined that give you the edge in a consulting role. Academia = low level, analyst type assignments to start with which will train you to do what? More of the same .... Academia = no understanding of the 'real world' so less connection with the real environment clients work in. All the best.
