Friends...I have an upcoming E&Y telephone interview. Anyone can advise me what to expect and the structure of the interviews? Any tips would be appreciated.

You should definitely expect some sort of conversation - probably vocal - on your telephone. When the phone rings, press the green button and hold the device to your ear. You'll hear a disembodied voice speaking to you - but don't be concerned - this is normal. It's E&Y! Speak without shouting or losing control of your emotions. Good tip: try to give answers to their questions. As per structure - it's quite normal in these cases to have a) a beginning, b) a middle and c) and end. This almost never changes so I wouldn't worry too much about that. And if they say "Give us an example of where you have lazily asked a supremely open question, giving no detailed information and evidently expecting serious people to spend time give you serious replies" - you know what to say!Good Luck!

The other thing about these telephone interviews is, make sure you don't take the call whilst sitting on the 5hitter. The sound of a flush, a quiet splatter and groan, or even the click-click of the bathroom switch, can be a sure giveaway as to your location.Note: Same rule does not apply to the person in the 'Simon Cowell' seat.

Why do you want to join EY? Have you not read anything on here?BAS is a disaster waiting to happen once the public sector tap is turned off. Join a place with prospects instead

Another sensible question followed up by a series of pointless and unhelpful responses. Can someone please throw in a PA reference so we can quickly get this over with...

All perfectly valid responses. Why encourage someone to board a sinking ship?

Ehem - "sensible question"? 1) Does not give any details about which practice area2) Does not give details about the office3) Does not give details about his entry level4) Does not give details about which member of E&Y the call will be withYet after this he still wants / expects responses? What are we supposed to say? If he can't be @rsed to provide details - then I can't be @rsed to write a response! Might as well have some fun given it's the 1st April!

As the title implies, Executives are top, top people who are very, very important at their level which is less than someone more senior, and far less than far more senior people but far more senior than far less senior people. They specialise in executivey type work unlike managers who specialise in managerial work, and analysts who.. well work it out.
