Anyone here familiar with eden mccallum? Are they really as selective as their website suggests (seems you need to be a bilingual astro-physicist who's partnered at MBB and non-exec'd at FTSE 20s in order to get a sniff).I like the concept, but am interested in the utilisation of the 400 or so consultants they have on tap, and whether the calibre accurately mirrors the corporate jazz on the website

I can only speak from my own experience, but I have done work for EM and they are indeed very selective.I have known one of the partners there for something like 15 years and we had worked very closely together. Yet I still had to go through the screening process. And they did call up my references - they were very thorough. In terms of utilisation, it's very dependent on whether your skills are in demand, and how available you are.I have my own practice, so sometimes I get a call and I can't commit the time. Other times it fits in perfectly with a lull in my own workload.Ianhttp://www.ianbrodie.com

I would echo what Ian said, I used to work for Eden Mccallum when they first set up. They were extremely selective, chosing from the markets best independent consultants. Their criteria certainly focuses on quality and experience. As Ian wrote, the utilisation is based on whether the work the partners win fits your experience, but through the interview process it will become evident whether or not their pipeline will offer you relevant roles. They certainly don't just fill their books with consultants for the sake of it. A great business model, if it suits your working lifestyle.
