If true, that is very concerning. PwC are a top tier consultancy, and streets ahead of PA Consulting. The only reason I can think why they would want to do this is to access PA's contacts in the public sector.

Cr*pvine more like. Previous threads have addressed this - PwC couldn't afford PA. The changes are being announced on Monday but it is the usual re-arranging the deck chairs type of stuff.

"PwC are a top tier consultancy" - did I really read that or did I just dream it? PwC a top tier consultancy?PwC play in the Europa League of consulting, together with PA, Deloitte and many other. The top tier, i.e. the Champions League of consulting, it more like M/B/B and a few others (if any)

Strategic re-allignment is key for PA. It needs to re-position itself to where it is deemed to create value, enhance operations and ensure durable entities: namely re-focus the attention to turgid, incomprehensible process flow maps in visio providing insight and clarityt in how to turn on the computer or what do you when Office crashes. The waste that this debt-laden and fiscally illiterate government spends on these charlatans is a joke. The thing that peeves me off is that over the past ten years, the partners at PA have been making good money off the back off this. It seems to confound the laws of justice, meritocracy and fairness.ZB

With the well publicised screw ups (think memory sticks, and process mapping for T5 baggage handling) and a change of government likely in 2010, I'd say its going to be a very tough few years ahead for PA consulting at the public sector work dries up.

memory sticks - PA aren't alone in losing client data. Where they do seem to be alone is in their speed in notifying the client, taking responsibility and implemening corrective action.T5 baggage - are you really trying to tell me that an international carrier and the uk's major airport operator handed full responsibility for implementing all of the systems, processes and training around baggage handling to a management consulting firm? Does anyone on the forum even have any evidence that the baggage processes were within the scope of work that PA were contracted to undertake?

Excellent !! Another attempt at a pop to PA which has come to absolutely nothing other than to allow a handful of disgruntled ex-PAers who didn't make the grade to sling some mud (very very poorly on this ocassion)So they've had a re-shuffle, so what, who doesn't?

mack, it is widely known (within PA) that they were involved in the baggage handling issue. the simplistic application of lean processing models resulted in the baggage areas being inadequately staffed. don't forget that the news story was rapidly taken down off the PA News intranet site. if that's not a guilty conscience then my name is middleton.

George - very good point. It is good practice to ensure that your company is structured to meet the future requirements of the markets in which it operates. PA does it and all the ex-PA whingers use it as yet another reason to put PA down. As you say, they've had a reshuffle. Who hasn't?

jeff - you ever thought about a career in politics? Stating "it is widely known (within PA) that they were involved in the baggage handling issue" is a great line but, as with most political statements, it is absolute rubbish. I am not part of the marketing folks but I am figuring they took it off the PA news site because only an idiot would keep up a story that is related to something that has gone so wrong. But as with all the anti-PA people on here you have chosen the conspiracy theory.

Bemused - please don't confuse some of the fools who post on this site as people who actually work (or have ever worked for) for PA. this won't be news but I'm quite sure that there are far more sinister movements afoot I suspect.I have worked for both PwC and PA (neither at this point) and can honestly say that there is crap and good in both (as with any other consultancy/company). I can, hand on heart, tell you that the higher calibre people were from PA.

Is this why PWC consulting target their services at FTSE100 and DJ listed companies while PA Consulting scramble to get work at the Home Office (or what ever it’s called these days)?

I've worked for both in the past and wholeheartedly disagree. Many PA partners would struggle to make manager at PwC and CVs of PA's juniors wouldn't get past the bin. Don't get me wrong - there are good people at PA but that comparison is ludicrous. There are many stupid things on this site both for and (mainly) against PA but that one takes the biscuit.

Anon - I don't see any greater problems here than I have in other organisations. The partners I have (maybe quite luckily) worked with have been good. It isn't perfect but I don't recognise the company that some people on here talk about. That answers the grown up part of your post. As for the second part, have mummy and daddy told you santa isn't real yet???

This is a company that appointed a partner from one of the Government practices to lead up the Financial services practice. What a disaster that was. I don’t think they sold much beyod LCH and the FSA. Typical PA additction to all things public sector – even in Financial Services. Glad to be working for a more professional company now
