1) Control
It is important to identify what you can and cannot do. Unrealistic objectives reduce productivity and this leads to frustration. Careful planning and organisation is the key. You cannot control everything which happens in business. Be a resilience role model - how you respond to tough situations will talk volumes about you as a manager.
2) Positive thinking
It is important to hold a positive mind set on every task. Put a positive spin on any challenges which you face. This will help build resilience against any negative situations. Re-examine negative situations and find a workable solution. Use positive language.
3) Play to your strengths
Be aware of your strengths and use them to your advantage. What we are good at usually tends to be what we find the easiest. These tasks will help you boost your confidence and self esteem. Ask for specialist help in the areas that trouble you.
4) Have a plan
Plan for today and scale for the future. Develop a plan which addresses important incidents which could arise and how you could avoid them. Prevention is better rather than having to resolve an issue when it is too late. Time management is also key.
5) Find new challenges
It is important to introduce change through new challenges. Change is inevitable and it can catch you off guard. New challenges will create variety, test your potential and enrich your experience. Without challenge we may lack opportunities to develop and better ourselves. If you try and successfully achieve something new you will feel pride in stretching yourself that little bit further.
6) Maximise social support
It is important to spend time with people who energise you. Focus your time on people who energise you and push you forward instead of those who take all your energy and force you backwards.
7) Know your personal signs and symptoms of stress
Take every action to address stress, know its sources. Embark on a new lifestyle, with physical exercise, a good sleeping pattern and diet. Lack of quality sleep can lead to poor decision making, which will affect general performance and it can cause a weakened emotional mental well-being and your resilience will not be as it should be.
8) Establish a mentoring atmosphere
Encourage your colleagues to help you nurture and inspire individual team members. Share experience and guidance with each other. You can benefit from being both a mentee and mentor.
9) Take your time
Focus on the key priorities; you do have the time to do this. Everything does not need to be done at once. It will be rushed and the results you expect will not be achieved. Prioritise the issues which need to be acted upon first, it is important to take your time to get it right and monitor your decisions carefully to make sure you are achieving results.
10) Treat career development seriously
Development and training of employees should be taken seriously. The development of employees also needs to be monitored. People always want to become a better version of who they are and to feel as if they are playing a part in growing a successful business. Learning and development is a win-win situation for the company and for the employees.
