Does anybody know what the difference is between counsel out and compulsory redundancy at Accenture? As far as I know all underperformers were already counselled out in the last performance review, is there any chance of this happening now? Is there a difference in package between CR and CO?Thanks

Yes, I'm very curious too. Would be really helpful to know any UK specific info in terms of how the packages compare.

Counsel out = polite way of saying you are the weakest link, good byeCompulsory redundancy = nothing personal, but we're getting smaller so don't have enough work for youThere's some overlap, but generally different reasons for using each. CR involves a mandatory payout (albeit small) but can be instituted across an entire group or workforce (in fact, the more blanketed the approach, the better). CO means no payout, but can mean more paperwork and time spent "counselling"/dropping hints to the individual. With regard to underperformers already being counselled out, there are always underperformers - by definition, 50% are performing below average at any given time. As soon as one lot goes, the next-worst performers take their place as the "underperformers".

Thanks for the useful info. Good to have the relative performance perspective in perspective.

I guess then CO happens at laddering time and won't happen together with the current CR process since it is happening before end of year ratings?

I wouldnt be so sure about it since the midyear reviews have just been completed and could probably be used as a basis.

CO usually involves a 3 month pay off to encourage you to sign the papers and go quietly

Sorry but you are almost all wrong.CO means quite a large payout as ACN is on very shaky unfair dismissal grounds. They have to pay out on what you would nearly get at a tribunal !!!! obviously they pay slightly less as they know you won't want legal costs and a lengthy case on top.I know people who got councilled out and got 6 months ! which is more than CR payouts.

And one more thing. If you have been a level for more than 3 years and have received a B or CW in your mid-year then there is a good chance you could be CO'd
