Fine. The project pipeline is well filled and the cash balance is one of the strongest in the industry. The type of work has changed dramatically though, where the majority of projects used to be PE and transaction work, this is now predominantly large strategy projecs - there is also a lot of work from the public and semi-public sector. It is good I think as it's more interesting work....;)

Is LEK as a whole uber maths orientated, stats etc or is that limited to certain teams?

It's a quant firm. That's the market niche and the selling point. It doesn't worry about competing with McKinsey, Bain or Monitor for anything related to brand strategy, marketing or culture, for example.

I hate this focus on "substantial output".I remember one particularly sceptical PE guy in a final feedback meeting. The second we dropped our 300+ page final report on the table his whole demeanour changed, he thumbed it, didn’t read a word, and congratulated us on our good work.I knew no one would read even 5% of it, and that’s what makes all those late nights so hard!

To anon, Has the change in type of work resulted in any changes to the amount of travel or working hours? Also, which sectors are the new strategy projects in, or is there no trend?

Hmm, working hours are like always, and remain comparable to other top strategy firms. I guess that overall there is slightly more travelling but it's still very limited, especially during the first two years. It works for me :) I don't like working from hotel rooms ;)
