Based on the lack of clarity in this message, don't bother.i.e. Firms are still hiring grads, but you have to be at the top of the pile!

the truth?1. Your post implies, by it's lack of detail, you cannot be bothered to make an effort, so don't expect many people to bother helping YOU.2. If you are questioning whether to even try, don't - frankly you won't have the determination and stamina to get a job in this economic environment - be it consultancy or industry for that matter. That's the truth.

^ Is that the truch or what you have inferred? The latter I suspect. Although I am one myself sometimes I cringe at the leaps of judegement some consultants make.

Customer perception is what drives customer decision making.Mars is simply doing what other recruiters will do with this applicant. For sure it is a quick judgement but then quick judgements rule in the recruitment market.

jj it's not so much quick judgements in recruitment, more that quick judgements will be made of any applicant to any MC in the current downturn - while this lasts employers simply won't spend the time digging into a potential applicant's experience and motivation as they don't need to invest the time - there will be someone else keener, with more detail and effort right behind Sceptical. It does Sceptical no good to be positive about a contentless, laissez faire approach.

Interesting answers so far. However, I am still wondering if it is worth to spend that much time only that MCs can update their CV databases and have a shortlist of interesting candidates when they will hire again. I prefer to invest this time to look for a nice phD or an interesting industry job where I know my efforts will be rewarded if I am good enough.Sceptical

"where I know my efforts will be rewarded if I am good enough."And therein lies your answer. If you're good enough you'll get in. The fact that you couldn't get to this answer yourself may suggest that you're not.

phD may be your best option. It would indeed be a snap judgement, but I would never hire anyone in to consulting (or any other business I ran for that matter) who had to ask "Is it even worth trying?". Is your time really that valuable that you can't be bothered to apply?Honest, non-offensive advice: I'd go for your "nice" phD. Be careful not to try too hard.

You may a have a point about my laissez faire approach. However, no one reacted to my other point: "only that MCs can update their CV databases and have a shortlist of interesting candidates when they will hire again.". I think there is definitely some truth there.Sceptical

Probably nobody reacted because nobody understood what you were trying to say.Two points:- the phrase "only that MCs can update their CV databases" does not make sense; a better phrase would have been "only so MCs can update their CV databases"- Management consultancies don't hold onto databases of interesting candidates. There are far too many good candidates coming forward to waste time chasing the also-rans. If an individual wants to re-apply, they are welcome, but only someone who is paid to actively track individual candidates (i.e. a headhunter) would bother. Headhunters also only devote that time to senior partners and executives.

Click on the tab labelled "career opportunities" above.Click on the drop-down box labelled "Industry" and select "Healthcare & Pharma".Use the other drop-down boxes to select the other criteria (location, salary, etc.) as necessary, or set each of them to "All xxx" if you're only interested in looking at Health & Pharma consulting jobs in their widest sense. Hit the "Search" button and a list of vacancies will appear in tiles down the screen.
