Just had a thought about the evolution of consulting through the decades.Most of the major consultancies have been around for decades and have been fairly global in scope. Just wondering if people know what global consulting would have been like in the 1960s/1970s/1980s in the pre laptop/computer, internet and mobile phone days?I mean, if you took a flight to see a client first thing Monday morning, what would you take with you (note pad, pen??)

Yeah..Imagine having to do a valuation model with a pen and paper..

Spreadsheets can give you a false sense of security. It is still only a model. Arguably if more time was spent keeping eyes and ears open; and less buried in a computer screen......
