Hi, I just got an offer as Senior Consultant from a small consulting firm (50 consultants approx.) specialized in telecom. I'm a top 10 MBA school graduate. My offer is $105k plus 15% bonus. No sign up. I just came to the US to school, previous experience 6+ years as an independent business owner. I know this is pretty low compared to the big four and other big firms, but I want to compare with similar companies. So far, reviews I have seen from Vault and Glassdoor all come from spring 2008, with very different economic conditions. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Depends what you mean by competitive - if you have no other options, it's a winner!Without knowing the market I can only guess, but it sounds reasonable in an increasingly competitive market with growing financial pressures.

A bird in the hand and all that...Actually it's on the low end of the scale for your experience, but as it's a small firm you should see quicker returns on your investment if you add value to the business - i.e. much easier to gain seniority. Also smaller firms tend to be good places to shelter the storm right now - they operate closer to their respective markets, have lower overheads etc, and client side are often perceived to be more cost effective/justifiable as less footfall of junior staff on projects. Big 4 and the other big firms are not the best place to be right now - far easier to cull people in large numbers. Compact and bijou - same as the offer.As Achilles said in the Odyssey, it's better to be a slave in heaven than a king in hell, at least right now.
