If one to loose a £100K job by a reason of VR, CR or managed out how long do you guys believe can take to get another job of even £40-50K? Assume the performance level of person have been consistent with or Above when compares to their peers on the same grade.Is market completely dead or still breathing?? what the prediction how long recession will last 2 years, 3 years or 4 years? Who is hiring in UK and why are they hiring when everyone else is reducing their headcount to survive? How many months one should plan to be unemployed for should he or she loose their current jobregdsANON

3 months I'd say - a lot depends upon how actively one jobhunts, how flexible one is prepared to be, and how transferrable one's skills are in the first place

The UK job market is tough...they are only really looking for very specific skills backed by lots of experience. The recession will last for at least end 09 for sure. Too tough to predict after end 09.Most large well known companies are really not hiring- cutting back infact. Your best bet would be with smaller companies that have won the odd deal here and there and are thus looking.Government is also hiring with recent stimulus packages. As for being unemployed...about 3 months is standard. You can get away with 4-5 months citing financial crisis but be sure to demonstrate what you have been doing in this time ( e.g. gone back to do an MBA, volunteered somewhere, etc).
