"Although in my experience, I have yet to find a presenter who sticks to the 10 minute limit -- most overrun quite considerably."Hmm. I've sat in on (and lost patience with) presentations that over-run on many occasions. There's nothing worse than being told that a meeting will finish by a certain time, and finding yourself still sat there hours and hours later because of poor time management. When I chair a meeting, it ends when the agenda says it's going to end! This is not me being inflexible or stubborn, but trying to instil some discipline and respect for other people's time.Software suppliers are notorious for over-runs. I've actually met with companies that didn't even get halfway through their presentation by 6.00pm expecting me to hang around for another 3 hours whilst they demonstrate their software. Not a chance, I tell them... stick some screenshots in an e-mail and give me a 10 bullet-point summary. "But that couldn't possibly do justice to our software!", they proclaim. "Well sorry about that, but I'm a busy man and can't afford to let all and sundry hijack my schedule, otherwise there's no point in even bothering to have a schedule. And besides, Corrie's good on TV tonight and this is MY time now."
