I counted one private sector job advertised in the Sunday Times this week.Still a few pages of public sector jobs.Is now the time to join the public sector?

Yes, as a job hunter I have also noted the total lack of private sector jobs.Interesting that the public sector appears to have the budgets available to place what are in many cases large adverts in the press. For how much longer will the Sunday Times continue to print this section I wonder?

Well, think about it... they have the perfect business model... give us half your salary or go to jail.

Your best bet in a recession:-Public sector ( thanks to govt stimulus packages)-Education ( always growth in down economy-ppl outta work go study) -Healthcare ( prob the most recession resistant of all sectors- ppl get sick no matter how the economy is holding)- Food and beverages ( expecially foodservice, except less discretionary/high end restaurants, etc)Forget about most other sectors, especially finance/investments,etc.
