Folks, got a dilemma here:Need to choose a job.Option1:Pros:-Awesome job; will be really happy with what i do, great Long term career potential- great job stability- full timecons:-government, thus not very agressive and nimble.- good, but not great salary.Option 2:Pros:- Awesome company brand name Cons:- Short Contact position- P*ss poor salary ( but since its contract, pays more than the FT position ( this company is known for using their brand name to lowball candidates on salary. There are many candidates from developing countries that will do this job for less and take it only for the brand. The comapny knows this and is using this to their full advantage.- Absolutely crappy work ( not in line with career at all)- Blood suckers - the interviewers actually ask if you need to be elsewhere at 6pm!!So, which one to proceed with- option 1 has job satisfaction but no brand Option 2 is only short term ( few months)- i can just grin and bear it till then.

Option 1 - good roles don't come around often.Unless your CV is terrible, a few months of a good brand won't add much to it; if anything the nature of the role may make it harder to get back onto your preferred career track afterwards.

'will be really happy with what i do, great Long term career potential' - the prospect of finding this is what attracts people to great brand companies anyway; you found it, take it. Option 1.

Will another 'Option 1' appear after you complete 'Option 2'?It seems that choosing 2 over 1 would be madness!

option 1....public sector spending ought to be pretty good next year and they are starting to launch some really big strategic programmes of work so hopefully the work should be pretty interesting

In regards to an earlier question- yes there is an (even better)option 1 after 3 months or so...just have to wait till early next yr when the hiring mgr comes back from vacation.

In order to give a balanced view, you should do what 50% of the people on this board do and go for the brand for a year then spend the rest of your life looking down at others even though you have no real skills to take to any potential employer.Option 1 every time.
