I 'applied' to go to one of the McKinsey grad events, but they emailed me back and said they had reached capacity, but would try to accomodate me anyway. I emailed back and asked if I could turn up in case there was any space - but they didn't even bother to reply! I applied to go to one of the other events they were hosting, but they wrote back to say I couldn't go to that one either!They then just now emailed me, asking me to fill out a questionairre giving my feedback on the talk I attended! :(Should I take this as a sign that McKinsey are unfriendly? I've been to some other MC events, and the people there have always been really nice and open - it's only McK who have pushed me aside.

Well, if they said they would try to accomodate you, surely that meant you could turn up?

Not neccesarily, cos if I just turned up without a proper invite, it would surely have seemed rude? I thought it was best to email out of courtesy to check, and was a bit annoyed when they 1) didn't bother to reply 2) didn't accept me into another event 3) emailed to ask for my feedback on the event I wasn't invited to.But maybe I'm being oversensitive....

Did you follow-up the second email with a call when you started get worried about attending? Email may be great, but this is yet another example of trusting this medium way too much. Far too easy to ignore or misplace or forget about etc. Without wanting to insult you personally Sam, I find it incredibly lazy when people can't be bothered to pick up the phone. Had you done that you probably would have received an answer in seconds.

If I was you I would attend the event anyway
