Hi there, I'm looking for some insight in to Mckinsey's Supply Chain and Procurement team. In particular I have the following questions -- How does this particular team compare to say, AT Kearney's Supply Chain and Procurement capability, or even that of Deloitte?- Where is their work based? For example, are you expected to travel abroad frequently and for long term (e.g. 4 days a week, every week for 3 months), or is there work primarily UK based?- What other Consultancies (MBBB or 2nd tier, e.g. ATK equivalents - not Big 4) have a strong Supply Chain and Procurement capability?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The team isn't long established and doesn't have a strong record in the market. AT Kearney have a very strong hold on the market for high value and significant supply chain consulting. Deloitte and Accenture have large practices but almost exclusively sell their work via a focus on the IT rather than business aspects of the supply chain.Supply chain work is by nature very transient, at least within Europe. However McK is good at limiting unnecessary travel, especially if you express a preference to avoid it.PRTM and Booz both have successful supply chain teams

Out of curiousity, how much does McK charge for its work? Does it charge daily, or per-project, or even per-consultant? And is it only big companies who use them - if a mid-sized business in, say, Nottingham needed an overhaul, would they use someone local, or would thye go for a big MBBB-type outfit?

Thanks ZB - useful insight. One more question, would your opinion differ at all if the question was just regarding Procurement, and not wider Supply Chain? Thanks

No, my opinion would be the same for supply chain and procurement. It's only possible to sell good procurement projects when you have a credible wider supply chain offering behind you.
