Hey All,First time here so ease me in gently please! I'm looking for any tips, advice and help people have on the Technology Assessment Centre Deloitte hold for experienced hires.I'm coming in with 3 years experience at Accenture and now applying to Deloitte's Architecture and Business Analysis consulting arm.Been told to expect a written exercise, partner interview, case study with 10 minute presentation, partner competency interview, and a group exercise.I'd particularly appreciate any examples of case studies or questions posed, and what was the best way in approaching/presenting your answers.Cheers!

Pretty much yes to what you expect, the case study presentation leads into a few questions about your case study, then into a competency interview (not necessarily with a partner, could be a director). Questions aren't that different from 1st round. The case studies are tailored, so the day I had my interview we were applying to a number of different areas so we got different case studies. I was applying for IMI so mine was focused on that, but there people from ABA who said their one was same headline but the detail was different. There are no right or wrong case study answers, its all about showing how you think and structure your thoughts. The questions they ask aren't about trying to say you got it wrong, they are about testing how you would show that there was a thought process behind what you suggested. The partner interview was pretty laid back, just more of a discussion, you as a person, why you want to join the green dot. Remember they are trying to ascertain whether they think they would like to work with you.Written exercise is 2 sides of A4. You will be given a number topics to choose from again area specific. It is aimed at seeing how you structure your thoughts, and show that you can top, tail and middle your thoughts. What else do you want to know?

Thanks for that, a great help! With the written argument is it seriously a pen and paper exercise? And the presentation is using a flip chart to present your ideas?I've read the above in a few posts which have surprised me given I'm applying for a technology consulting role - you'd think powerpoint skills and word presentation skills would be tested with these activities.Anyway, the only other thing I would ask is with the written exercise is it just a headline question or is there some background materials to read up on?My biggest weakness right now is finding enough materials about Deloitte's methods of working and types of projects they aim to sell - I've found it near impossible to get some good solid information on this other than industry awards they have won. If the written exercise relies on you knowing Deloitte's key strengths and market expertise then I might be in a spot of bother unless anyone out there has some recommended sources of info?Cheers, appreciate all your thoughts! The above makes me sound very naive for applying, but I've been preparing for the last month and trying to make sure I've covered all checkpoints!

yes pen and paper for written and flip chart for case. thing is anyone can learn powerpoint, but the core/key skills you need should be able to be shown on paper or ppt. My topics were things around information management, and to be honest there is too many possibles to read up on it all. however if you have been working in the aba area anyway, you should fine. there were i think 5 or 6 to choose from, there 3 that i actually wanted to do so i dont think you should fret.As for ways of working, i suppose you need to identify the differences between green dot and acn. So i too was, well actually still am ACN so used the differences between the 2 for my interview(s)

So from that answer I'm guessing the written exercise does provide more than a headline question (i.e. supporting materials to use in your argument)...?

no you don't need supporting materials, one of my questions was "most BI projects/initiatives do not deliver the expected benefits", and i had to comment on that. Didn't need to have supporting materials, but it helps to have known the background on why that statement has been said.

So how could you know the context? Or is it based on a previous case study? If I was given that question right now with nothing else to give it context I'd just say the project targets and measurables were obviously poorly defined and there must be something inherently wrong with the corporate methodology followed if its a regular issue (!)

agreed but like i said earlier the questions are different per practice area, there were ABA specific questions and case studies on the day, the one i gave was one of the questions for IMI, specifically for BI and EDM bodies.
