My advice is that an MSc will be essential. Ongoing academic involvement (e.g. research towards a PhD or post-doctoral teaching) is also very popular.Pay in the small Occ.Psyc. firms's is on par with mainstream consulting around the mid-career level but doesn't reach the same levels for partnership. However, these are small firms so it is easier to reach partnership in first place. In addition, there is much greater work-life balance, part-time working, opportunities for part-time study, etc possible than in mainstream consulting.Salaries and progression are benchmarked to be competitive with other psychology careers. This is because career mobility between public practice, small occ.pych. firms, and independent coaching/contracting is greater than that between occ.psych consulting and mainstream consulting.
