Hello. I have a BSc (hons) 2.1 from a good london uni and an MSc Merit from a top london uni (in relevant degrees). Yet, I still get loads of rejections from consultancy companies. I was wondering if this is the same for some of you? I'm having trouble accepting these rejections. I tend to take it a bit too personal.

Easy solution - email them back rejecting their rejection and telling them that you have to start Monday.

Something tells me that you don't have much confidence in the universities you attended that is why you have not listed them to enable more constructive comments.

Yep, I agree. Big difference between some colleges and say LSE/Imperial/UCL

Well Imperial is no longer a university of london college but yes, nowadays "university of London" does not mean anything

Wow, October. You really have reservations about naming your first university. It really cannot be that bad if it is part of University of London. Goldsmiths? QMW? RHU?As Mars A Day said in another thread, this lack of confidence can be a big hinderance in impressing at a consulting interview.

I suspect October does not want to be identified and that is why he/she is reluctant to name their first uni. There are people from all the universities mentioned above in every single one of the Big four consulting firms. So there is nothing to be ashamed of!Some people are so up themselves. First two years in Consulting is testing and PMO regardless of the uni you went to.

yes he does not want to be identified as he is the only one from his "university of london" that did a master in LSE afterwards...Before December also decides to claim that any university of london is the same i have one thing to ask, university does not count, A'levels do not count... So what really counts. It is not a matter of arrogance. If you are applying for a position wth high competition you need to have studied your first degree in a good university regardless of what the actuall job the first 2 years is

Wow.. guys you gotta chill out. Why dont we just answer his question? I had quite a few rejections (around 8) before finding a good job and I have to say many of my friends are struggling in this economic downturn. What about everyone else -how many rejections have you had?

November, surely it cannot be good for the reputation of non-Imperial, KCL, UCL and LSE universities of London if their own graduates refuse at all cost to identify themselves as an alumni.I am taken aback with these lack of confidence in his alma mater. I doubt he is the only student from there that did a masters in LSE. And I wonder how anyone would be able to identify him when he has not identified the subject studied.October, is it Wye College?
