I am currently in a large consulting organisation, but have been unhappy for some time (due to some internal issues). I have now been offered a new job in a similar organisation which I think much better suits my needs.I am obviously very keen to move, however I work in Financial Services Consulting....is it wise to be moving now?

I say be very careful and try and get the most accurate view of pipeline for both companies. I don't think anybody is particularly safe working in FS consulting (as i do) at the moment but my view is that i'm safer staying put for now given that I have hopefully earned myself some loyalty with the forthcoming downturn. This philospohy might be floored and works off the premise that when laying off a lot of places work to a first in first out policy. Saying that, you mention that you have internal issues? - if you are having issues and are in any type of conflict with Partners and HR then you might be top of the list when the lay-off round hits. Only you know how bad these issues are perceived.
