Who hates their job?

hate

Am I wrong to hate my job? I'm conflicted becuase I'm lucky that I have a job, and yet I hate it.I've been a consultant for a few years now, and I seem to get more depressed each day moving forward. Here's why:-shitty pay / long hours-feel like I'm a glorified admin-shitty work: simple excel stuff, typing up notes, interviews with incompetent clients-lack of professional development

I hear you. You forgot to mention:- Partners / executives who think that they are the greatest- Nothing tangible that you can put on your CV

Not I sure I hate it but I know the effort in "doing well" doesn't match the rewards.4am Monday to get flights, late nights, never in own bed, working weekends to get the extras done.

Agree, it sucks, i'm just doing the bare minimum not to get sacked now as I refuse to bust a gut. Focus on life outside of work and look for a new job!

grow up

Boo f***ing hoo. Used to be the case that people got on with their jobs and had pride in their work. More depressed each day? Whose fault is that? Your employers? I don't think so.In the grand scheme of things your feelings just aren't that important, please keep them to yourself. Someone's not going to come along and offer you something better or "rescue" you from your life. If you want to do something else go and do it. I don't care and don't want to sit here crying with a bunch of people I don't know about how everything that sucks in my life is someone else's fault.Incidentally. I'm actually happy with my job & life in general.

i agree with grow up: if you don't like your job, leave. there are plenty of other jobs you can do, so why not do something about your situation and move to another company / into another role? stop complaining and act before you get even more depressed

I hated my let's-say-top-five-strategy-consultancies job. Not adding value, not having fun, not making millions. 60-70 hour weeks regularly.I left four months ago to work for a charity. I virtually halved my salary. Never been happier. Out at 17.30, lost of exercise, time to cook, happy, clever co-workers. I also feel like I am making the world a slightly better place - I think this organisation is actually more rigorous than my old workplace.I have no respect for anyone who stays in management consulting. I have thought about this a great deal, and I know a lot of people in a lot of consulting firms. No respect at all. Good luck, and good night.

I used to be a management consultant with a small firm. Now i work in industry for a big company. My pay as a junior consultant was shitty. Now it is about 20% higher, still pretty shitty. I work 9 to 5 and have enough time to go to the gym, meet up with friends and do many other things in life. I still hate my job though, because I am not cut out to be a wage slave. Feck wage slavery. Just give me the money btch)
