To the last anon, I don't drive, so can't comment on CG's mileage policy. My normal commute cost is £1 for the bus, although at a stretch I could probably walk to the office - so I never even bother subtracting that, although officially I should. To the OP on your last question, it's always been economy for short-haul flights, and used to be business class for long-haul. Unfortunately this was extensively abused, and now you can only travel business class if the expenses are chargeable. Having said that, in my experience you are asked rather than told, about working outside the UK. Train travel (incl. Eurostar) is always 2nd class.Hotels both in the UK and abroad are usually pretty good.
