Have two offers. Bain as Associate and AT Kearney as Senior BA. Position in ATK is one step higher, but as far as I know Bain's brand is better. Any recommendations what to choose?

In my opinion Bain's reputation/brand is better than ATK's, particularly over the last few years. However, I was in a similar position to you with offers from Kearney as an SBA and from BCG at entry level. I chose ATK. The money and bonus was therefore better at ATK. Furthermore, the progression to ATK associate (and all the benefits associated with that) which is the next level up would be very quick as long as you performed – the norm is 1-1.5 years. Also, very subjectively, I really liked what I saw of ATK and the people that interviewed me. Of course, if you performed very well in Bain I’m sure you could progress quickly with only a year or so difference to reach a similar position. And I am aware that the people who interview you are only one small part of the organisation. All my friends who were outside of the industry, and some of those who were in thought I was mad because only a few had heard of AT Kearney and they all knew BCG. If you have the offers you should ask to speak to some consultants in each firm. I’d also ask about MBAs if that was something you are interested in and see what Bain would offer. Just sharing my experience and wish you the best of luck.

Indeed, it is. McKinsey, Bain and BCG are often seen as having the 'best brands'. So I presume that is why the second poster stated it was a "similar position" and not the same.

If you want to get the brand on your resume to move onto other things later on Bain. If you want to stay in consulting and make partner asap, ATK may be good. But overall Bain's a better firm to be in, starting one or two years behind is not a big deal.
