hey guys, i'm just about to join Accenture as a Consultant. I'm new to the company as well as to the industry - I come from IB. Any Accenture people out there willing to give me some insight or just things you wish you'd known about the company when you joined?Thx

Ex ACN

Hi, I just left ACN as a consultant (C2) having been there 3 and bit years. I would say network and build a support network. Success at Acn is about perception, not reality. If you are percieved as good, and have your face out there, then you will be placed well in the ratings. Some will disagree with that, but its a big firm, and no one has the time or effort to validate individual performance as it should be conducted.

Hey Ex ACN thanks. Because I will only be working in one vertical I should imagine I will get to know the team pretty quickly? Can I ask where you went to upon leaving Accenture? I'm joining at C2 level and feel I've been placed a bit low. I'm coming from industry with just over 4 years experience. Thx

Where should an experienced hire with 11 years proj mgt inv banking experience be placed at ACN? I'm being offered C3 that seems low especially if C2 is ideal for someone with 4 years experience.

11 years project management experience? Depends if this was in industry or another consultancy but it is porobaly worth an M2. You wont get offered that grade though, as you are new to ACN. Come in and prove yourself!

I would shoot for M1 level. They sometimes bring experienced hires in at C3 to 'prove' themselves as a manager before promoting them but push to come in at that level as it's a tough jump to make and they pa is about 20% higher.

If anyone's got to do the "proving", it's ACN, not me.

Yeah, arrogant f*ckers or what. I wonder how they would react if you said "I want a salary of £65k but will require you to put me on £80k and then I will reduce it to £65k after a trial period once you have proven yourselves not to be cr*p employers".

I joined ACN last year with 8 years industry experience as a C3. In one year I have been promoted to M1 with about 25% payrise. It is true that they want to see you perform before bringing you in as a M1. I know of atleast 2 more people who joined as C3's with strong industry experience and are now M1

C2 for 4 years sounds spot on. The others - C3 for 8 years sounds low and 11 years very low.I went in at M1 after 5 years on a grad scheme at another big 4 firm so you can go straight in at manager if you are any good.
