Hi guys,I'm looking in to move somewhere along the Piccadilly line somewhere between Gloucester Road and Park Royal. Are there any nice areas around that part of town? My budget would be about £225-£275 for a 1 bed. Thanks

Try asking a local estate agent, or check out the ads in the local shops.

The HQ of Lehman Bros should be available very shortly and probably very cheap too!

Come now Mars that statement is complete nonsense.....We all know you can't use property zoned as commercial for residential purposes.

Hi anon,I would say that the area/route specified is not a particularly fun/glam part of London, generally. Best bet would probably be Ealing Common, but you start to sense something of a suburban aura once you move that far out of London proper. You could also try Turnham Green/ Chiswick Park on the District is you don't mind a minor change before joining the Picc. They're a bit better (class-wise), but still, more of a family area than a young prof's haunt (assume you're young - 1 bed flat? OK, you might be a family man commuting, etc....)Can you tell us more about yourself/ your situation? Out of interest, I'd say the best places to live in London would be Clapham and Islington (90% of acn grads can't be wrong!), but they're a bit out of your way. How about Notting Hill? Anyway, hope that helps.

The best place to live is Hackney. It is still affordable and round the corner from Hoxton and Old Street.

West Hampstead. Great transport links and next to the only tube line which works.

Ealing Common is your best bet. There are some nice places within your price range there. But it really depends on what your definition of nice is. It's more suburban there, which makes it feel more like a "home" than living in the Docklands, for example. But you're not going to have the same culture and nightlife on your doorstep as living on Southbank, for example.

Where is your HQ? Make sure you are on a tube or train line with good/easy links to it.

Ok, guys- you have all been really helpful.I'm thinking of looking around fulham as I can easily get on to Picc line from there. Will I be able to find anything in my price range around there?West Hampstead might not be a bad location as it is near the met line, which equally serves my purposes, is it a vibrant area?

If you want vibrant, try Brixton. There's no shortage of things going on there!

Ok, well let me define my idea of vibrant. I want somewhere where I can walk down the street and have a host of bars, restaurants and cafes but at the same time I want somewhere where my girlfriend can walk home at night without too much worry. Ideally an area full of young professionals.

Kings Cross and surrounding area has a never ending supply of 'professionals'. Suggest you start there.

Anon - Not quite West London but going by your latest post I'd recommend Wimbledon - it is by far the most diverse London district in terms of mixing City and Country. It has clubs, bars, cafes and even country pubs where punters bring along their twin labradors and welly boots and this is only a stone's throw from the built up area of the Town. It's safe, vibrant and feels like you're going home when returning from work. Transport-wise its 20mins train to Waterloo and then a hop to the city so for zone 3 has very quick and efficient transport links (tube, train and tram). Real mix of people generally but all tend to be professionals - less rah than Fulham and not in the clone-wars like Clapham - something a bit different and prices within your range.

Yep, West Hampstead is full of young professionals and so is full of restaurants, bars etc. The clubs here are not great, but its only 15 minutes to central London. You can also walk to the Met line. Expect to pay c.250 a wk for a nice one bed.

Anyone know any areas where guys in pin-stripe suits pull up in Audi TT's and then talk on their VodaFones whilst dining in £60 per-person restaurants every evening?
