Hello,I am considering applying to ACN SITE as a grad. The problem is that I really don't want to spend my life working in IT I appreciate this is probably quite a naive question but would a few years at SITE pigeon hole me as an IT person or would I have the opportunity to move in to more commercial roles in the future?

Why don't you join the strategy practice instead of the IT strategy practice then?

I think if you join SI&T you would be joining ATS....therefore i wouldn't...rather join consulting...think ACN has the ASG for grad consultantsYou have to apply for strategy through this route...SI&T would limit your chances

PNP - I think you may be confused.1) SI&T is part of consulting not ATS. 2) For ASG I think you meant the Analyst Consulting Group ACG.3) Whilst SITE does now technically sit inside the SI&T umbrella it is a very specialist part. It is ACN's tip of the spear.

I don't think you will get an IT label after 3 years in SITE - the focus in on strategy. It is unlikely you will learn much about IT in this period. However this gives you a different challenge, particularly after 3 years of being able to put any sort of label on your skills.

My dear anonther anon anyone can learn about IT in less than 3 years depending on the person and the opportunity(projects/exposure) the person is granted. So the question is SITE offering that level of exposure and projects that one will want to spend 3 yrs in it?

"anyone can learn about IT in less than 3 years"What exactly do you mean by "learn about IT"?Learn what a computer is?Learn how to test a SAP module?Or learn how to look like you know what you're talking about in front of your equally clueless colleagues?

Yes I find IT consulting, or selling shite to idiots, is really quite easy, if said muppets knew anything about the systems available or even their own business it could be harder.Easiest job ever, and hardly any competition now as IT at all levels is considered back office.Mind you in saying that some bankers bought packaged debt, so just goes to show, 20% ability, 80% personality.

boabyWell learn the 3 mentioned and far more longer list. Is experience that makes one learn, some spend 3 years with significant experience and some spend 5 years sticking to one client just to get promoted and doing a shitty a$$ job.
