Currently on a long term project where I am basically working for the client direct with no real visibiity (therefore little prospect of promotion).Am quite keen on contracting for the same role myself on half my daily rate as would make more money overall.Anybody else made this sort of move before? Moreover, unless your client is unethical, they are also unlikely to be tempted by this proposition."Poaching" staff is generally frowned upon by both clients and consultancies, even if that "poaching" means that you're an independent contractor.

90% certain that you won't be able to move, if you could, everyone would and consultancies wouldn't have a business.No reason why you couldn't contract in a similar role for a different client - sne dyour CV off to a few contracting roles and see.
