Coming out of the industry I have been offered a job with Accenture (Strategy Consulting). Do you boys and girls have some practical info how it is to work for such a big company with so many consultants? Can you really make a difference? How is the learning curve - is it really innovating or just copy/paste? And how is the work/life balance? Thanks

Having a firm offer from the firm, you should really be very clear about what consulting entails at Accenture. I can understand your concerns about joining a big co. My recommendation is to build your network as soon as possible and not to be very focussed on driving all your actions towards increasing your performance metrics. Everything at Accenture sort of centres around the bi-annual assessment process. As for the learning curve, expect a steep one if you are coming from a pure industry role.G'luck

I moved pretty quickly to senior level in my company. The good part is that I can make a difference and can make things happening. However I am bored with the industry I am working for and tired with all the little operational issues I have to deal with on a daily basis. So that's why I am exited to change into a consulting job. However, moving to such a big company I am affraid that I will be part of the 'Trivial Many' in stead off 'Vital Few'.....Any thoughts/remarks/advice...!?!?!Thanks

You might not find it so bad. It's a big company but you'll probably be working in a small team and strategy is a small part of accenture so you'll probably feel some sense of community.Very difficult company to progress in due to the politics of performance management/promotions but sounds like the variety of consulting would be a good move for you.
