Go smart - less the tie. Then you can change to whatever everyone else is wearing (if you care that much) on day 2.

Personally I would never wear a short sleeved shirt to work... perhaps in my free time but not office/client.Business casual: don't wear a tieBusiness extra casual: don't wear the jacket+tieCasual: consider a short sleeved shirtPersonal/private: anything else...

Only wear a short sleeved shirt if you're selling software.

Hi Can someone please advise on business-casual attire for women? I'm starting my first 'real' job and this is the dress code for our training at the beginning. Is it trousers and smart tops, but not shirts? I don't like asking trivial questions like this (no offence to original poster) but really haven't a clue..

I really hate "business casual" since it implies clothes I would loathe to wear in any other situation. In a perfect world work attire should be either full on suits etc or wear what you like within reason ie tshirts etc. Anything in between pisses me right off but thats just my two cents.@lady email HR, they won't mind answering you and will advise as to the appropriate dress code. It will quickly become apparent what the story is when you start anway.
