I am interested in the new consulting practices of the Big Four accountancies. I am a non-finance orientated FS change manager - they seem to be interested in me but should I be interested in them? Comments from current and recent incumbents would be welcome.

What's this 'new' consulting practices at the Big 4 accountancies?Deloitte never sold any part of their consulting business.PwC sold most, but a rump was always left behind and the Northern Ireland office decidied not to be sold and stayed with the parent company.Similarly, not all of KPMG's consulting activities went to Atos. Some stayed behind.Only E&Y have anything new - their BAS practice.

Went to interview with them recently. They seemed to be quite stuffy, and very tied to their methodologies.they also dont seem to be winning as many of the big clients as the other Big 4 firms are

Twix a day - my understanding is that PWC and EY had non-compete clauses in their contracts with IBM and Capgemini. These are now expired and they are being much more active in advisory based consulting.

Without stirring up the hornet's nest again, EY BAS has more than its fair share of discontents (see posts passim) and this is visible in its culture. There was a recent thread about Deloitte Consulting (the title was something about TI vs. EA) which gave a great insight to its culture.I can only comment on PwC's consulting culture as a client - client relationship management and customer focus are very poor. It seems very transactional. No experience of KPMG.
