I'm a 29yr old doctor with an MBA trying to break into consultancy. Does anyone have any advice regarding firms with solid lifesciences/healthcare practices that recruit M.D's?

Are you the same pal that posted thread 42811 and 1081 but everytime you reword the question slightly to try and get more/different responses. Listen mate, you work in an honourable, respected, demanding profession, why on god's name would want to enter the ACN infested world of IT charlatons, fraudsters, SAP geeks, change management, business transformation numbskullsStick to the medical professionZB

Hmm... 29 yr old doctor with MBA.Let's think that through for a minute.Undergraduate degree completed age 21.Then 4 extra years to get the PhD. That takes us up to 25.2 years for an MBA. We're now on 27.So he's been a doc for say 2 years (3 max if he did a 1 year MBA).Interesting. I wonder what made him change his mind after such a brief spell of actually working as an MD?Even more interesting, as ZB rightly points out, is why anyone would want to jump from such a noble profession into something where any old charlatan can put a sign up outside his office and go around touting his services as a "consultant".

Excellant comment anon - well deduced and articulated perfectly. I suspect from your structured thinking and reasonable conclusions that you do not work for ACN.ZB

Where is your MBA from?If from a good school they will help you far more than the clowns on this board. If not from a good school, then you may well have shot yourself in the foot somewhat, as companies could view you as purely an MBA candidate, but from a non-target school, which will make it hard irrespective how good the rest of your CV is.If that is the case for you I am not sure what to suggest, other than to try and position your application as a doctor first and foremost, and an MBA candidate as little as possible.Just guessing though reallyFrom a firm perspective, McKinsey, LEK, BCG all have life science groups. ZS do pharma marketing. There are lots of boutiques, but they may well want someone that is already 'trained' at a big firm.
