Wow. The senior consultants I met from PWC's PI practice sure didn't come across as being of a £100K a year calibre. Are they paid that much because the work is so demanding or has such long hours or something? I am so underpaid.

I didn't say it was easy to get in. I did however say that the consultants I met from PWC didn't exactly give me the impression they were of £100K calibre. Maybe they have a flawed recruitment process or something? Or maybe there's a reason they're paid so much, other than for their sheer skills and ability (e.g. maybe a premium salary is demanded by virtue of them having to endure rubbish work, long hours, or unpredictable travel - who knows?).

I was told that SC at PWC was equivalent to a "managing consultant". It does make you wonder why they don't just call them managing consultants in that case. The SC's I met were no doubt highly paid, but were more like SC calibre than managing consultant calibre in my opinion. It was all quite confusing really. I didn't know whether they were MC or SC level. Their job title and, how shall we put it, "gravitas" said one thing, but their pay said another. Puzzling.

PwC call their senior managers (i.e. the step down from director) "senior consultants". I think the first reply has wires crossed. What's known as senior consultant elsewhere in the industry (i.e. on step down from manager) is known as Executive at PwC.God knows why. Unfortunateky for them, on all framework contracts their rates look extremely expensive, as the clients don't always compare like to like.
