Was wondering if anyone has any insights to LEK in Australia/Sydney. I've done a fair bit of web research, and its easy to get a feel for them globally, but not that easy to find out about their place in Australia.Any info such as profile, industry focus, working hours etc would be appreciated.

LEK in australia are small but quite good. You will be focussed on good projects, but they will be small in size.

My manager has just transferred from LEK Oz and had a few horror stories: juniors are beasted: every analyst/consultant is constantly double-assigned - they will work 9-6 on one project then begin work on their second project, often til the early hours. >80hr weeks are not unusual. (Typically, there are many office romances, purely because these are the only other people they will see.) More often than not you will work weekends. Typical proj = 3 months, work 9 of 12 weekends, often both days, and be given 1, max 2, days in lieu at the end of the project. Pay is good, but not as good as LEK London, but you are encouraged to transfer to other branches - US, Asia etc, which appeals to some. The workload may be broadly typical of strat-houses in general, but I work in a big four and am unaccustomed to such continuously demanding expectations

Dont ask me why, but most international consultancies such as LEK have generally immature and below average environments in australia. Outside of australia, they are good- very good in some cases ( some US offices etc). But are , like TX inferred, 'Bodyshoppers' in australia only.Double staffing consultants is unacceptable. The only other companies to do this are IBM Australia, Accenture Australia, and EDS Australia.

LEK has double allocation (the 50/50 system - "50 hours on one projects and 50 on the other") in most of their offices, not just Oz (certainly do in UK). The Oz office has the benefit of the "beer trolley" that circulates around the office at 5pm on Friday. Small consolation, though...

thanks to all above for some interesting (if not a little concerning) insights. Does anyone know what an associate can expect to be paid?

B**lshitIn Au everyone from Consultant down is typically 100% on a project (uk is diff). I have worked 50/50 maybe 5-10% of my time here and they are not typically my longest weeksIn over two years I've worked only 1 weekday combined and done only 1 week > 70 hrs ( a fair few 60-70 though, and for most of those I get a day off because of it). Average prob ~55 incl lunch hrI wont comment on pay specifics except that its in the top half.

How did you convert your debt into equity? How long did it take? I have a lot of debt also but would prefer some equity.
