How many suits should a reasonable person have for work? Not a fashion horse, just a reasonable person.And how often should they be rotated? Daily? Weekly?Honest question - I'm going to buy some suits at the weekend. Currently I've got 3 decent suits, and 2 scraggy ones which I can wear at a push.

It depends who your clients are.My client dresses very casually so if i turn up in a suit i'll look like a 'consultant' or a ponce which naturaly isn't a good thing. That said if my clients were in financial services I'd wear suits more often.2 should be fine and some spare trousers etc. to wear without a suit jacket.

I have 2 suits with 2 pairs of trousers each.You don't really want to pack more than one jacket but will want to rotate the trousers.The second suit is just for variety.

Assuming you have to wear a suit 4 or 5 days a week, either on client-site or in your office: 2 Good Suits (when you have important meetings, workshops, have to meet many people)AND 3 every-day average ones (for days when you wont have many meetings)You need to review which ones are Good and which have now turned Average from Good, every 6 months and then buy one accordingly.

I would double every answer by 2. You will need two sets; one for summer, one for winter. Since global warming, UK summer's demand lighter fabrics. I would personally suggest at least 2 for summer, 2 for winter, and 4 all-season (good for spring, autumn and warm winter days).

How about ties? I have 3 sets of suits, each two trousers. Matching these are 9 ties. 2 of them are more conservative and I usually knot them when having more important meetings. The others also give me an elegant but less 'heavy' look.

What do you do during the less important meetings? Not knot them??

How many slices of toast should I have in the morning? Butter or flora? Bearing in mind that butter might make me a chubber. Is jam too extravagant? Worst thread ever.

I do, even when without meeting.If suits are not important, why so many professionals spend thousands of dollars on their favourite striped jackets? Because they are not intelligent enough to spot that this is just a piece of cloth for protection?

Suits? Well we all need a few but not many!Why not spend your hard earned cash on something more exciting rather than a wardrobe full of suits?

there are few things more exciting than a good outfit.what do you find exciting (worth your money)? fast cars? ipod? lap dances? champagne?

Currently I've got 19 and that's way too many - 5-10 is a decent amount - but for me it depends on client relationship acitvity / presenting / board meetings (most of my work....).As for underpants - most consultants need loads as they often have to wear 2 pairs - one under the trousers and one on their head to cover the genetalia sticking out of their forehead.cheers
