I’ve a final assessment day next week with Deloitte to get on their analyst programme and was wondering if anyone on these forums has been through a similar experience? I'm open to working in either Ops or HC.Haven’t had it confirmed yet but from research I think the day will consist of a detailed case study, a presentation based on this, competency and partner interviews and a group activity. My game plan was basically to practice numerous case studies and to swot up on competencies and typical interview questions similar to my preparation for the first round interview.Does anyone have any words or wisdom to volunteer on top of this, regarding either previous experiences or preparation methods? Very keen to get the job and want to give this day the best crack of the whip.

You do realise that the interview questions are completely different for these two streams, and the partner is going to be pretty pissed if you waste his/her time when you have so little understanding of the job that you can't decide. You'd better spend your prep time doing some serious thinking.

Thanks for that insightful input. I was hoping for a response from someone who was familiar with the Deloitte process and not for a demonstration in stating the obvious. Of course I’m aware that the questioning for these streams will be entirely different but from my first interview and understanding of the process it appears that, as graduates, we are interviewed based on desirable competencies and it is Deloitte who decide what stream we are allocated to based on experience etc. I have experience both academically and on a smaller scale professionally of both which is why I am keeping doors and options open. Back to my original point, has anybody been through this FAD and if so what can I expect from the partner interview, written exercise and group discussion? I’ve heard mention of a creative writing exercise, are there any truth in these rumours?

also dont worry too much about the exact service line but make sure you have a preference. I had strategy first and ops second. by the time my final round came both were full. the partner was from ea, one quick question about technology was all. i said i recognise the importance of being able to utilise tech and that was about it, was offered EA the next day after only speaking about it once

Great stuff. Thanks for your help anon. Another quick question, is the interview with the partner a real grilling or just similar to the first competencies interview but with more depth? Also, does commercial awareness feature much, for example, tell me a story in the news of interest? (Okay so that was two questions)

Commercial awareness does help. One of the partner interviews consisted of the interviewer telling me about the work he was doing with t-mobile, so I tied in the rise of Web 2.0, 3G, release of the iPhone as indicators of what the mobile phone market was heading towards. As I've said in previous posts, applying a bit of common sense goes surprisingly far.

My partner also asked me a guesstimate for EA/TI...so know how to tackle those too.e.g. How many tennis balls are there in the UK...

Thanks again, that's a big help. Have been reading one of the Vault books as part of my prep, might have a quick look over the chapter on guesstimates now, wasn't expecting them to come up. Hoping that Ops and HC aren't full, I’ve applied for the analyst programme in Northern Ireland if that makes any difference. We shall see. Thanks again.

Interesting...I'm actually from NI myself ''Deloitted'' - do you know what streams the Belfast Deloitte has with regards to consulting? Does it have strat/ops/hc/ti/ea? I thought Deloitte only did graduate training from London no?May I also ask, is your interview in London or Belfast?Either way - good luck!

It has Ops, HC and TI streams in Belfast. My first interview was in the Belfast office and so is my FAD. From my understanding the training will take place here too.
