Hi people- I'm a new analyst within a MC and was wondering why strategy is so slow at the moment? A large number of people are on the bench in my company, and I've heard that this is the case in many other big strategy firms with analysts being laid off. Besides the xmas slump, are there other reasons for the market being so slow? Many thanks

I hope this is a troll, if not and you cannot work out why strategy consulting is experiencing a downturn you really shouldn't be working in MC. Try reading any business section of a non tabloid newspaper, BTW this doesn't mean Metro on the way to work.

Its slow as the only big news is 'Insourcing' and you dont need a strategy advisor to tell you that, as they were the ones that 'outsourced' you to begin with....All our call centres are in the UK, common on Adverts now...need a strategist?

Thats right its all about only having insourcing to talk about, nothing to do with the credit crunch, wholescale reduciton of M&A activity...only minor economy wide events.I remember now why we don't employ many strategy consultants any more.

Anon, if you cannot answer your own question, you really should not be a consultant let alone a strategy consultant. Please consider a career in hair dressing!
