Hello, I have been trying to move from the lower levels of IT support into what i have finally decided to do as a career which is working within Information security. I lack all the experience required but have some industry recognised certofocations. I have searched High and Low and there are almost certainly no employers out there (maily through job boards and agencies). If there are any consultants or experts out there, could you spare a little time pointing me in the correct direction as i am waivering quite badly.Thanks.

Security is one of the biggest challenges facing every single company, there must be jobs. Info security must also be a good job IMHO because technology is always changing, and so the threat must be always changing, and you can't oursouce security to india either. My advice is to make sure you have appropriate secuerity certifications, keep your experiecne up to date, maybe do an MSc, and perhaps try to move into the area with your current employer before moving on.

Get an MBA, and specialize in the appropriate area. That way, you make more money, manage people and projects, gain specialized business knowledge to build on your IT knowledge, and can open the door to better companies and firms. Think bigger.

Heres som aditional info for you:IT-Security usually requires more IT-skills than Security skills, and if you want to work with that then just contact nearest IT-consultancy company. Really hot market.The wider area of Information Security, on the other hand, usually requires more "security" skills. (Get a CISSP and a CISM an you will be on track).
