This website helped me out a great deal to securing a job and thought it might be useful to others to hear about my experiences so far with Deloitte.I started 3 months ago on the TI analyst programme. It is a 2 year programme, starting salary £31,000, 25 days holiday, £600 benefits. My reason for choosing Deloitte over the other consulting firms as I was made to feel wanted and felt Deloitte had a genuine care over recruitment. From application to job offer was less than a month, the partner involvement during the recruitment process was like no other and gave such a personable feel to the organisation. So was my decision to join Deoitte the correct one?So far I am I am hugely impressed by the company and the investment they put into their analyst. My training was about 8 weeks long in which we went to Holland, Ireland and London. The accommodation was all hugely impressive, 5 star hotels, silver service dining and copious amounts of wine and beer throughout the 8 weeks. Furthermore the training is led by the partners/directors/senior managers and by the end of the 8 weeks you have already built up a vast network of senior people Inc at least 10-15 partners. This is what impressed me the most, the time and investment the partners put into new analysts on top of client commitments. It is a genuine care that comes across and you can easily build up strong professional and social relationships with them. As part of the Deloitte TI programme you also sit ISEB exams towards a BSC diploma and while learning about thing such as business analysis, testing, databases, UML, Requirements engineering etc you are working towards a professional qualification which you should have achieved by end of the 2 year programme. The 5 exams during the training was hard work but the level of support to get you through these exams was second to none and again shows a massive sign of investment, as these courses and exams are over £1000 each to sit per analyst.Having finished the analyst induction programme I’m now away from London on my first client engagement. Life as an analyst involves lots of PowerPoint, excel, research and analysis and while it might not sound like much, the exposure and early responsibility is already way above my expectations. And I’m loving living off expenses! Life in 5 star hotels and 1st class rail travel makes those uni exams all worthwhile!! My work life balance has also been excellent so far, working avg 8:30 – 6.30.That’s a very quick run down of Deloitte experience so far. If you have any doubts about whether it is a good place to work, I can assure you I can only say positive things about it (So far!). There may be other companies who offer bigger salaries, better benefits but also be sure to research their training programme, culture etc but these things are worth so much more that a few extra £000, esp at analyst level. Any questions, comments, experiences I’d be interested to hear them!

All very nice but I can't say that your experience sounds like anything special compared to other similar firms. Living off expenses might seem glam to start with but I assure you that the novelty is short lived!

you are either a poor misguided fool or HR propoganda in disguise.Work life balance isn't that great if you consider that you are out of London five days a week (but I will admit it is an easy life for the actual salary you get)It might seem ok now but you will find that "the genuine care" you felt in induction melts away very quickly if you want to move projects/locations/industries or have somehow fall onthe wrong side of someone's P'n'LDeloitte is a good place to work, depending on your projects, but this is a rose-tinted view.

I jonied as a strategy analyst with Deloitte in September and agree with some of what James has said...What is clear is that Deloitte are willing to invest in their analysts. The pay is below industry average - if you want the best as a grad go for OC&C - but chances are you wont be doing any chargeable work with Deloitte - for the first three months it is training, training, training...In the trip to holland there were many partners and directors who were based there for the entire two weeks - the opportunity cost is pretty impressive, and that is exposure you may not get elsewhere at such an early stage. There is also a very open learning culture - you can ask anyone pretty much anything without feeling too stupid. However, you do feel that they are trying a bit too hard to sell you into the firm from the get-go. Once the dust settles, it is hard, monotonous work (in strategy often past 8,9,10pm), for not outstanding pay and no bonus for the first 3 years..There is also quite a face-time culture and a heads-down attitude - socialising is pretty much restricted to the office style MSN messenger during work hours, and lunch is usually an eat-while you work affair. However, coming in with a massive intake group (120 across consulting) does mean there are lots of socialising opportunities outside of work - usually something every weekend. One thing that I think James may have over-stated is the 'genuine care' for us analysts.Speaking to people at all levels, the feeling is generally that Deloitte is all about the partners. If you are a minion, or worse, an analyst, expect to get relatively abused from time to time, with little thanks and less reward. What you do have, is a good brand on your CV, a solid launchpad for the future and a shot at making it to partner in 11-14 years, if you really want to...

James, don't worry about wearing out over time from all the travel. I've been traveling for a good 26 years now, currently much to India which is a considerable distance from my base in Holland and still loving it. If over time you decide you like to continue traveling, keep on doing so, if you feel you are wearing out, find a new position elsewhere, you'll have an excellent CV. Either way you win!

Do not feel like you owe anything to these companies - they won't batter an eyelid about shafting you twice if you're on the "wrong side of the P&L" - wise advice.Luckil, I have bigger interests for it to bother me too much lol

Hi,Congrtz for the job and yes travelling can be a bit hectic, till you don't start enjoying it. Try to learn something new or explore new places, if you have spare time. And yes no work is easy, you have to put in efforts for sure.
