Hi everybody,I´m heading for my first round interview with EY BAS in Germany for an experienced/grad hire (< 2 years) for corporate performance management. Can anyone give me some hints for the interview? What kind of interview will occur I can expect? Merely general case studies and brain teasers?I want to go for asking around 48k. Is this fair enough? What about recent projects and customer "successes"? Is BAS competitive along the finance practice from strategy consulting firms or is BAS likely to see equal with IBM GBS, CG, ACN?Thanks in advance, rico

BAS is nowhere near the same league as the competitors you list. Search for BAS here on the forum to see what poor employers they are. F&PM get singled out for particular criticism

I completely agree. I believe that BAS is not up to the same quality that EY has in audit and tax, and miles behind IBM, ACN etc. let alone the strategy firms. I would genuinely not reccomend you to interview there - rather change career.

Good work Joey and a. Leaving aside that the question refers to the German practice - not the UK - I'm sure you're commenting from a position of personal knowledge.BAS gets a bad press on here for reasons I don't really follow. I sit in F&PM and don't recognised the caricatured profile that gets churned out on this forum. The clients we work with and the growth in business we're seeing says to me we're doing okay. If this forum says different then fair enough but I choose to believe what I'm witnessing in person. For anyone who is considering applying then come and meet the people and then make up your own mind - don't let Joey's vast experience and knowledge of BAS put you off.

Wow z! So do you work in the German practice too ??In truth, from what I hear from friends in One More London Place, F&PM has been a huge flop despite all the money that EY has thrown at it.They started about 3 years ago with a huge fanfare, and recuruited a whole load of partners from IBM (one of whom I see recently was chopped). Since then, it's been downhill all the way: staff attrition rates are high and rising (worrying for such a new business), and they don't get the same long and deep jobs that other consultancies win. The EY propoganda will tell you this is because they don't do big scale systems implementations, but then again neither do many of the competitors.Personally, I would struggle to find a good reason to join EY BAS

No I don't work for the Germany practice - that's why I didn't comment on it. I responded to your ill-informed stuff on the UK F&PM.Taking your points in turn:- More like 2 years than 3 but what the hey- Nope, attrition is comfortably below industry norms and stable, not rising- The F&PM Partner chopped was not ex-IBM, he was ex-KPMG. And there are only three ex-IBM partners in BAS as a whole.- As we grow and mature as a business we're winning more of the long and deep stuff. We're sold out right now.Pretty sure we'd struggle to find a good reason to want you to join us too Joey, so why don't you focus on whatever it is that you do instead of spouting off about others

I joined F&PM UK 14 months ago and can support Z's comments full.I have worked with great clients and I am enjoying it.One of the guys on my current project is from the German practice. The German practice seems a little more SAP focused that the UK. I think their are 6 month behind the UK in developement but from what he tells me there is a good of stuff happening.

First of all I work in EY BAS (in FS)I have read so many negative EY BAS comments on this forum that I somtimes wonder if people are talking about the same organisation that I work for.Yes, we have a few ex-IBM partners (as opposed to being run by ex-IBM) but most of these ex-IBM and in fact ex-PWC who went over to IBM.FS BAS is doing extremely well. This year infact we have done exceptionally well. I work for a group with FS BAS called Performance Improvement and we are about a team of 50 people (will confortably do 17-18m). I know a lot of guys within F&PM (again with FS) and I know they are doing very well. The calibre of clients is excellent and we (FS BAS as a whole) have a great reputation within Insurance (GI especially), Investment Management and PE. We are a little weak on the Retain Banking side. Thats not bad for a 2 year old practice.I just dont understand where people are getting this nonsense from. It could be relating to BAS outside of FS. I cant comment on that as I dont know much about how they are doing. But if you are considering joining FS BAS, all I would say come and talk to the people, look at the numbers and judge for yourself instead of believing some ignorant comments posted on this board.

Hello curious, many thanks for your detailed post!Your information bases on your work for BAS in the UK, correct?I am heading for a position in Performance Management. I read, that BAS GER in total made 13,5% growth in 2007.Can you tell me sth about the interview process? Will there mostly be projects within my home country except clients are quite internationalized?Executive=Consultant? Thanks again for your advice, rico

Hi Rico,Yes, I am a UK based employee. I dont know specifically about the German Practice but I do know that the European region growth has been very good (just slightly lower than UK).I dont know about the German interview process but for the UK, its a 3 stage process. First stage you are interviewed by either someone at the level you are looking to come in or just above. Second stage is the Director interview and the last stage is the Partner interview (although sometimes Directors OK the position without having to go through Partner level - generally for levels Manager or below)One of those stages has a case study and other interviews are really about your CV, skills, competency etc.I suggest you contact German HR and try get more information.Yes, executive is a consultant. Some other parts of EY do have a role designation of Analyst which is usually straight out of college but that only happens in Tax or Audit..Hope this helps.cheers
