All,really interesting to follow the forum.Maybe somebody has some good advice for me.I am studying for my Masters at a Business School in France. Already gained working experience in Frankfurt (industry, finance department) and in London (top tier investment bank) while interning. Now, I am in Paris, looking forward for a new internship exposure. Since I am not a native speaker, I consider my chances for a consulting internship in paris rather low.this is why I am wondering: Should I go into a Private Equity / Venture Capital firm? Already have an offer there for a three month internship. I think this is a great opportunity to work on cases, thinking out of the box and being creative. Other opportunity: Pursuing an internship in a company or marketing agency, to gain marketing exposure & skills. I am already quiet "on the finance track", with interneships in Finance, IB and, if PE...Looking forward for your thoughs.

Either way you will work until you puke and then keep going so best make your mind up and commit to something because you'll need to remind yourself you want it - and I mean really WANT it - on a frequent basis.

Ok... So what now? Thanks for your replies. Concerning the fellow giving smart comments: My english isn't native - but that doesn't change a thing, since I am obviously not going to apply in London! Does anybody have something intelligent to add? I am obviously at HEC for a reason and got the Internship at Goldman in Lon, so don't happen too be too stupid.I would like to work for a consultancy. What would you suggest? Get a more diversified Cv with doing some marketing things, oder rather go to the PE company? What would you prefer to read on a CV?Thanks for your HELPFUL advice.

Student, you should indeed check out whether consulting is the thing for you. Apply for McKinsey, Bain and BCG and see if you get an internship there. Then you can see whether you favour IB or consulting, or directly go to PE should you have the chance.
